Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic

The incumbent serves as a team member of the Air Conditioning Equipment/Refrigeration Shop for the facility as a Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC) & Refrigeration Mechanic with additional expertise of energy management and HVAC computerized systems, including but not limited to the Johnson Controls Metasys System (Building Automated System BAC/BAS).
S/he is responsible for maintaining, repairing, installing, and modifying complex air conditioning, heating and ventilating air conditioning Equipment also included in the responsibilities of the incumbent are, but not limited to, all Central Air Conditioning, window air conditioners, all refrigerators/freezers throughout the hospital, ice machines and drinking fountains.
The HVAC systems throughout the medical center are controlled by Engineering Management Control by Engineering Management Control System (BAC/BAS), a highly complex, computerized central environmental monitoring and control system, which the employee operates, maintains and modifies to optimize efficiency and energy savings, while maintaining environmental functions, i.
e.
, temperature, humidity and ventilation at proper levels for patient care and other facility operations.
Incumbent lays out, plans, and installs sheet metal and ductwork for a variety of air conditioning, heating and ventilating applications.
S/he must have knowledge of the principles and theories of air conditioning and refrigeration such as refrigeration cycles, heat transfer laws, refrigerate tables, calculating air flow, and the pressure temperature characteristics for the different systems in order to locate and repair faulty equipment swiftly and to reduce inoperative time to a minimum.
The incumbent performs equipment evaluations:
o Programmingo Installationo Operation verificationo Calibrationso Provides training on highly technical electronic systems.
o Modification and set up of computer programs o Troubleshoot computer software as well as pneumatic and electronic controllers.
o Makes independent decisions and completes assignments to ensure to meet accepted trade standards with little or no supervision.
